Bloodbath
in Guantánamo (GUANTÁNAMO,
CUBA, December 25, 2001) – Last Saturday at 10:00 am, the
young lady Marlen Ferandis Rodiles, 33 years old, who lives at
"calle Aguilera No. 55, e/ Antonio Saco y Sol", became the
victim of a violent crime at the hands of her neighbor, Félix Brooks, 60
years old, whom approached Marlen from behind when she was entering her
house with what little food gets rationed to the family, and without any
kind of notice he began to attack her with a machete, severelly injuring
her head, arms, chest and back. In this agonizing condition,
Marlen yelled for help, which is when the agressor scurried away, machete
in hand, and went to his house which is next to Marlen's home. One hour later, he was
apprehended and in the presence of the police he said that he had
already taken care of the first one, then it would be the barber's turn,
later the grocer's turn, and continued in this fashion to list the people
whom he want to bring to justice. According to statements from
neighbors those people had not done anything to him. Félix Brooks, had already been
sanctioned and served two sentences, the first for the rape of a minor and
the second for a similar occurance to that of last Saturday.
However, for several years neighbors have notified the police chiefs
of this man's threats, and they have not taken any actions in this
respect. Today we see the result of a
police force that does protect the interst of the people, on the contrary,
it is a respressive organism that responds the interests of a totalitarian
government. It is the only responsible party that acts such as these
occur as they could be avoided by enforcing some type of measure
against people such as these. I have witnessed one brother attacked
another brother with a machete in their home and how the people witnessing
the attack pled to police agents present at the scene to intervene.
Their response is that they can not get involved because it would be a
domestic violation; however, when the police receives information
that meat is being sold in a house, they knock the door down if
they have to and go in to apprehend the vendor. This is proof that the people of
Cuba are the only ones whom suffer the rigor of a communist regime imposed
against all democratic laws. Reported, Ferdinando Castro de
Lardiller, Delegate in Guantánamo, of the Democratic Party 30 of November
“Frank País”. For The Information Bridge Cuba Miami. Given on
