Peaceful oppositionist vacated from his home

(GUANTÁNAMO, CUBA, January 7, 2002) - Daniel Enrique Salgado, a 42 year old peaceful oppositionist formerly residing at “Calle Paseo”  #11 between Sol and Oriente, was vacated from his home this past December 31 by Colonel José Salgado Suárez  aka “Tato”.

According to the source – “ This so called Colonel taking advantage of the fact that he is the victim’s uncle changed the lock to the front door while the legal owner was away on a trip to the Capital, when Daniel returned he could not get into his home.”

Upon being informed by a neighbor of what happened, he went to the police station to file a complaint.  Once there, they refused to accept his accusation alleging that they already knew about the case.

All indicates that this corrupt officer abused his power when he used the of his military rank and uniform to spread lies stating in police headquarters lies that his nephew was crazy.

According to the victim-  “this military official wants to sell his home for $ 4,000 and leave Daniel in the streets even though he inherited this home from his “grandfather” where he has lived for the past 42 years of his life.

In closing Daniel states that – “His corrupt uncle has already stolen 3 homes since the communist regime took over the Island, one home is in Santiago de Cuba and two in Guantánamo, making one of the homes his residence and moving his daughters into the remaining two homes.

Daniel  Enrique Salgado is a former political prisoner and at the present time is an activist with The Democratic Party 30 of November “Frank País”.
